in one of the “the sopranos” episodes that i was forced ;) to watch, i heard this line from one of the characters:

‘Remember when’ is the lowest form of conversation.

it made me think of some of the friends that i used to have. i guess there are friends who you haven’t seen for ages and will always have fond memories of, but when you see them now it’s hard to imagine how you became friends with them in the first place. it’s like you don’t have anything in common with them at all, except for those memories you share.

i find that when the friendship hasn’t really been for that long and there is a big gap between when you last saw them and the next time you see them, it’s just hard to recreate(?) the same fondness. and when there is a reunion of sorts, the conversation always ends up being about remember when’s.

sometimes i get scared that because i’m so far away, maybe the only thing i have in common with my friends are the memories we share. :?

(edit)
butch pointed out that my friends might get offended by what i said here. i’m not naming names anyway, i’m just in a contemplative mood hehe :)

over the years i have created many blogs from blogger to livejournal but i have never really been religious with posting. i have also never had that many (if any) readers which was ok, since most of the stuff i was blogging about was personal stuff anyway. i hate having so many logins and passwords to remember so i’ve decided to streamline and got my hubby to get me a domain so that i can have a permanent home :)

this blog will mostly be about mundane things but hopefully i will have occasional posts that involve deeper reflections about existential stuff– ohh! big word hehehe :D

i love hearing about what other people think, so if you stumble upon this little home of mine, feel free to drop me a line by commenting on any of my posts. :)

we woke up early today and had lunch at around 11.30. after that we went to chow king cos i was craving for halo-halo. then we went walking at redondo beach for about an hour.

i’m getting antsy about finding a job. somehow i have the feeling that LA just isn’t cutting it for me. i think i now know what ate ruby meant when she said she wasn’t happy in melbourne. i’m happy that i’m with butch but if i had a choice, i’d rather we moved to melbourne. anyway, we’ll see how i feel in a few months. maybe i’m just bored and overthinking things.

last saturday butch and i went to universal city. we took the studio tour and saw the different sets that were used for movies and tv shows like the fast and the furious, back to the future and desperate housewives. butch pointed out that the doors for the mock-up buildings are small because most leading men were short. by making the doors smaller than average it would look as though the leading men are actually tall hehe.

we rode the jurassic park and revenge of the mummy rides. the lines weren’t that long, about 15 minutes for each ride. the rides were really, really short though, less than a minute for each. just when you think it’s getting exciting, it’s actually over! i’m still trying to convince butch to go to six flags magic mountain and ride rollercoaster(s) with me.

after sightseeing we had dinner at tony roma’s. we bought a couple of cinnamon rolls from cinnabon and had those for dessert in the car. i was so tired from all the walking that we did that i fell asleep in the car on the way home. it was funny because i woke up with a start because i felt like i was just about to start snoring haha.

this post is way overdue, we have been back from our honeymoon for almost two weeks already. i just haven’t had the timeurge, to blog lately.

we arrived in LA on thursday, march 29, 2007. the flight was really long and uncomfortable. next time i fly from australia i’ll definitely book with qantas. we flew with united and the plane was really old.we left LA for vegas on monday, april 6. the drive was ok, although there was a bit of traffic because of roadworks.

we stopped over denny’s to have lunch and then drove straight to wynn. we got there at about 4pm. butch kept on insisting on driving with the top down but i didn’t really want to cos it was too hot and i didn’t want my hair all over the place.

we checked into tower suite # 2808. the view from the room was breathtaking. we were at the back of the hotel so the view that we had was of the golf course. apparently it costs $500 to play golf there.

here’s a recap of where we went during our 5-day honeymoon at vegas:

  • monday, april 2: had dinner at tableau, wynn; watched spamalot; had drinks at parasol up
  • tuesday, april 3: had lunch at red 8, wynn; went shopping at fashion show mall; went swimming; got allergies from the pool :( ; had a massage at the spa; went to mgm to watch KA
  • wednesday, april 4: watched the mac king comedy magic show at harrah’s; had dinner at eiffel tower restaurant, paris
  • thursday, april 5: walked around to the other hotels near wynn; watched le reve at wynn.
  • friday, april 6: had lunch at red 8 again, went to primm valley factory outlets

although we went to vegas we didn’t really gamble. i guess when you see slot machines left, right and centre, it just gets a bit boring hehe. we also didn’t get to walk around much cos it was too hot, i feel faint whenever it’s hot and i have to walk/stand for long periods.

the room at wynn was quite good. and because we stayed at the tower suites we had our own reception, separate from the other hotel guests. we also had a separate pool area but the water was a bit suss because after we went swimming i developed REALLY itchy and red rashes.

next time we go to las vegas we might stay at the bellagio. we want to try out the other hotels and restaurants there. i’m not in a hurry to go back though, it’s too tiring. another funny thing i found about vegas was there were so many mexicans handing out “business cards” of strippers that you can call and who’d be in your room in twenty minutes. they aren’t even selective of who they give the cards to: couples, kids, parents, etc. it doesn’t matter if you look like you’re on your honeymoon, gotta hand out those cards!
