there are so many prams available out there for all types of budget that it is so daunting to know exactly which one to get! my mum and i have visited about four stores already, looking for the best pram, but i always keep coming back to the steelcraft strider 4 available from the bubs baby shop in fyshwick.
steelcraft strider 4
it’s a bit bulky but out of all the prams i tested this had the smoothest ride. i haven’t tested it for collapsing though, but from what i’ve read it’s pretty straightforward. the steelcraft strider 4 is priced at around $399 but you would have to pay $139 extra to get the bassinet attachment. it’s meant to be used from newborn to toddler but apparently if you are going to use it for newborns it’s better to get the bassinet.
if i had all the money in the world though, i would definitely go for either the bugaboo cameleon or the bertini x series.
bugaboo cameleon
the bugaboo cameleon retails for around $1500. it comes with its own bassinet and is very compact when folded. it also has its own travel bag, which would have been ideal considering the baby and i will need to do a lot of travelling in the next two years. from the reviews i’ve read the ride is smooth as well.
bertini x series
the bertini x series is a bit different to other prams because you actually have to buy the attachments separately. you have to buy the base, seat and/or bassinet. plus there are stands you can buy if you want to use the bassinet inside the house. i think this also retails for around $1500.
they have good travel systems in the US, wherein you use the baby car seat with the stroller. i was thinking of asking butch to get that but then the car seats in the US do not meet Australian safety standards so i decided to scrap the idea. there are some travel systems available here in Australia but they are very rare and they are quite expensive too.
