matt is now four months. as usual, it only seems like yesterday when i was typing the post for month 3.

in the last month matt has started smiling regularly for his dad, giggled a few times, started wearing size 6 months clothes, stopped drinking formula and started grasping his bib and the belt on his swing. he also enjoys bath times a lot more now, with me soaking wet after each bath. he is also starting to get a bald patch on the back of his head, i think he might be shedding some of his hair.

as for me i am no longer so sleep deprived although i still feel like i am, shedding some of my hair too and still not losing weight :(

matt is relatively easier to put to sleep at night, although days are still a bit of a struggle. his regular bedtime is around 9pm and he wakes up anytime from 7-8.30am. he still wakes up a few times during the night to feed, but at least he doesn’t groan and grunt as much anymore. :)

matt turned three months today (LA time). the last three months has been such a blur.

in the last month matt has been smiling randomly, crying less, outgrew more clothes, took his first domestic and international flights, went to LA, slept on his crib, started pooping every other day instead of 6 times a day, squealed in delight, can lift his head for a couple of minutes during tummy time, saw a paediatrician for the first time, got his second set of immunisations and started “talking” to us.

as for me i am still sleep deprived, my back is starting to suffer from carrying matt (he’s almost 14 pounds already), watched a movie for the first time and have been eating regularly since getting here in LA.

it’s a bit difficult to measure matt’s stats cos we don’t have regular visits to the doctor, not to mention they don’t use kg and cm here. but i’m pretty sure he’s gained a lot of weight cos he’s really quite heavy now and he is quite chubby already. he looks a bit like the michelin man :D

i hope he starts giggling soon and will smile a bit more and become less grumpy lol

matt turned two months today and his idea of celebrating was… struggling to poop at 1am and not sleeping until 3am! LOL

in the last month matt has been smiling randomly, crying heaps, outgrew baby acne (thanks to sorbolene!), outgrew more clothes, stopped sleeping during the day (daytime naps are extremely rare and precious), started supplementing with formula, exclusively co-slept with mommy at night, used nearly 150 nappies and grew by 1.74kg and 9 cm since birth. :) as for me, i am no longer so sleep deprived, cried a few times, breastfed and leaked a gazillion times, got my period again, had low milk supply so had to take fenugreek supplements and heard mass for the first time! :)

the settling method i talked about last month has totally gone out the window. matt only sleeps on his own for about 5 minutes. i’ve just accepted that he will be taking daytime naps on me and we will have to co-sleep at night. hopefully when he is ready he will sleep and settle on his own.

matt turned one month yesterday, and what better way to celebrate it than with better breastfeeding and a new settling method! LOL :D

in the last month matt has been smiling randomly, crying heaps, grew to enjoy baths, developed baby acne :( , got nappy rash, outgrew his first set of clothes, used nearly 200 nappies and grew by 590 grams and 5 cm since birth. :) as for me, i became extremely sleep deprived, cried a few times, breastfed and leaked a gazillion times, lost my pregnancy tummy but still have bilbil :D and ate about a hundred nutella sandwiches! :) :) :)

i was planning to get a cupcake and a candle for him yesterday but i was too tired from the breastfeeding clinic so i couldn’t be bothered. when we got home i tried the controlled comforting techniques taught by the nurse but it just wouldn’t work. finally when matt fell asleep (after being rocked) i did some research on it and what the - it’s meant for babies 6 months and up! durr poor matt had to endure all that crying and we were doing the wrong thing! :( :( :(

anyway, i found this settling technique for newborns to 6 months here. i tried it on matt and it worked!!! i didn’t even have to pick him up. it took him a while to fall asleep on my first try but he actually settled before the 15 minutes was up. since last night i’ve done it about four times already. the first time he fell asleep for almost 2.5 hours, and then between 45 minutes to one hour for the rest. i didn’t get much sleep last night but i’m not complaining, at least i’ve found a method that *seems* to work!

i’ve asked butch not to rock matt to sleep cos it would just waste all the effort i’ve put on the new method. hopefully with being consistent matt will get the idea :)
